Caran Cress Mattis

Caran Cress Mattis received her B.A. from Bucknell University in 1986. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, with degrees in History and Psychology. She received her J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1989 and was admitted to bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania that same year. She was admitted to bar of United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in 1990.  Upon graduation from law school she served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Samuel C. Ranck, President Judge of the Northumberland County Court of Common Pleas.  She has been in private practice since 1991.

Caran Cress Mattis currently serves as the President of the Northumberland County Bar Association.

Caran Cress Mattis is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association including its Family Law Section, Elder Law and Tax Litigation Section. She is also a member of the Northumberland County Bar Association and the American Association of Nurse Attorneys. From 2004 to 2008, she served as Guardian ad litem for children in dependency proceedings brought by Northumberland County Children and Youth Services.

Caran Cress Mattis received her R.N. diploma from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing in Danville, Pennsylvania in 1976.  She previously worked as an orthopedic and operating room nurse at Geisinger Medical Center. She maintains her RN license in Pennsylvania by attending Continuing Medical Education classes with a focus on medical and legal issues that arise in divorce, custody and dependency cases.
