I took over General Counsel responsibilities a month prior to a 9 count federal indictment of SCI (staff counsel at SCI since 2006). I retained new counsel to defend the company against these charges. ... With outside counsel's help, we quickly and efficiently responded to subpoenas. This nearly 3 year legal ordeal involved 4 subpoenas, an executed warrant by the FBI, a 4 week federal trial, and ultimately, on June 30, 2014, an acquittal of all 8 counts by a federal jury (the judge acquitted SCI of 1 count prior to jury deliberations).
