In this case, the tenant, and plaintiff in this case, terminated her lease early, and the landlord, the defendant in this case, sought to assess damages to her relating to lost rent and physical damage ... to the property. However, he failed to file suit in the statutory time period under the Michigan Landlord-Tenant Relationships Act. As such, since my client's security deposit had not been returned to her, and was still legally her property, she sued the managment compant for damages. The management compant subsequently settled.
