After a 15-day trial, the jury found the defendant ... was negligent in providing the decedent with medical care, and his negligence caused her stroke and, ultimately, her death. It returned a verdict for the plaintiffs for $1,257.484.64. The trial court reduced that amount under K.S.A. § 60-2003 to $907,484.69 and entered judgment against the defendant for that amount.
