Karli Jay Study

Attorney Study is a local York native who has close ties to the surrounding areas of York and the central Pennsylvania region. She is a 2012 alumnus of York College Pennsylvania and a recent 2020 graduate of Widener Commonwealth School of Law. Prior to entering law school, Ms. Study took several years to understand her passion in the legal field by becoming a paralegal. She worked for several prestigious firms in Maryland and Pennsylvania until 2017, where she made the transition to a full-time law student.

During her time at Widener, Ms. Study excelled in her academic courses and received numerous awards for her writing such as: Best Appellate Brief and the 2019-2020 Kaplan Group Scholar Award. In addition to attending her courses, she clerked full-time for several firms in the Dauphin County area in fields of employment and labor law, commercial civil litigation, special education law, municipal law, estate planning, family law, and criminal law. Ms. Study also interned at the Middle District Court of Pennsylvania for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Martin C. Carlson and for the Lancaster District Attorney’s Office. 

Ms. Study began her legal career as an intellectual property attorney and later transitioned her practice to general litigation. However, Ms. Study’s passions have always fell into the realm of employment and labor law. She is active in the Pennsylvania Bar Association for Young Lawyers as well as in the Employment and Labor Law division and acts as Legislative Development Writer for the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Environmental & Energy Law Section Newsletter.

When not practicing law, Ms. Study is usually getting her hands dirty in the soil by gardening or walking amongst a row of blooming flowers in a local greenhouse with her four-legged sidekick, “Smush.” When not gardening, Ms. Study and Smush make their rounds in downtown York and cherish their local community by supporting local and volunteering.
