Donald Charles Styer III

I grew up in Lancaster and I experienced what so many of us experience when it comes to the ravages of drugs and drug addiction. My father was addicted to heroin, and I watched him go from a smart capable functioning adult to someone stealing to feed their addiction, going in and out of prison, in and out of rehab, and in and out of being seen by his family, until ultimately, he died of an overdose.

I watched the system chew him up and spit him out on the idea that somehow if you spend enough time in the dusty old county prison, that somehow that drug addiction will just go away. That's not how it works.

In Law School I started an organization that assists with getting innocent people out of prison. Why? Because the Law is imperfect. Each day innocent people are sent to prison. The Truth and a finding of Guilty are not the same thing. Factually innocent people are sent to prison all the time because our system allows for it. Prosecutors put pressure on people to take deals. Should you take 5 years of probation as an innocent person or risk a Judge sentencing you to 5 years in prison? The system is a big bully, and I take great pleasure in standing up to it EVERY SINGLE DAY.

The broken system is what drove me to Law and Criminal Defense. I am sick and tired of watching these out of touch legislators create laws that just perpetuate the problem and increase the population of our prisons. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has one of the largest per-capita percentages of the population on probation or parole in the nation. The system is designed to keep people in the system. At Styer Law we want to stand between you and the system. We are your shield and defender.

I started Styer Law to give people the ability to choose someone who sees them as a person, not as a case file. I don't care what you are accused of, first and foremost, you're a person who needs help. That's what we're here for.
