Benjamin P. Clarke

Benjamin P. Clarke is an associate in Saxton & Stump’s Intellectual Property group in the Lancaster office. Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), he draws on his background in the biomedical and chemical sciences to help clients protect their innovations.

Before joining the firm, Benjamin served as a student extern with an in-house legal team, where he reviewed USPTO office actions, researched application file histories, and helped develop responsive arguments. He also worked as a technology analyst with a university technology transfer office, preparing prior art search reports to assess the patentability of new technologies and supporting researcher intake meetings and licensing discussions.

During law school, Benjamin participated in the Intellectual Property Clinic, advising clients on copyright, patent, and trademark matters. He also served as a research assistant on a U.S. Supreme Court amicus curiae brief addressing artificial intelligence and copyright authorship, contributing research and drafting on the law and economics of AI-generated works. In addition, he competed in the USPTO National Patent Application Drafting Competition, where his team drafted a patent application and presented it to a panel of patent attorneys and examiners.

Benjamin earned his J.D. from Penn State Dickinson Law, where he received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his work in the Intellectual Property Clinic. He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Health Sciences, with minors in Chemistry and Biological Sciences, from Purdue University.
