The client came out of his home late in the evening to confront two large men who were shining a giant mag light flash li ... ght in his car. The client came out to defend himself with a weapon and escorted the two men off of his property. It turns out the men were there to repossess his car, but he had been making his payments so had no idea they were coming. Corey presented a strong case about his client’s intention to protect his home and poked many holes in the credibility of the witnesses and police officers, who did not seem to recall the story as it was portrayed in a surveillance video the defense was able to acquire. After a 4 day long jury trial, the jury came back in a short time with a verdict of NOT GUILTY.

The security officers involved alleged that the client used force to get away, but the State presented no evidence to support the allegation and the security officers presented no evidence and differing testimony. Corey pointed out the discrepancies in the officers’ story and emphasized the lack of evidence the State presented in their case. After a five day long jury trial, the jury came back with a verdict of NOT GUILTY on the robbery, saving the client from a significant amount of jail time and having a strike offense on his record.

The client was disabled and maintained his innocence that the complaining witness was making up a story and that they became angry when the client was selling the vehicle for profit. After a five day long jury trial that Corey tried with co-counsel, the jury came back with a NOT GUILTY verdict on BOTH COUNTS. The client was saved significant jail time and the trial was won through presenting the lack of credibility by the complaining witness and the lack of knowledge by the officers involved.

Corey defended a client in King County Superior Court – Juvenile Division on violation of a no-contact order. The client was accused of violating the order by appearing at a cheerleading tryout. The ... client sat as far away from the complaining witness as possible and arrived first. The client did not know that the complaining witness would be there and sat as close to the door as possible. Corey presented evidence to convince the judge that the client did not “knowingly” violate the order, as required by the elements of the crime. After a deliberation, the judge came back with a verdict of NOT GUILTY and the client was saved from juvenile detention time and from missing important days in school.
