Zachary Edward Nahass

Zachary E. Nahass focuses his legal practice in the areas of business, labor and employment law, civil litigation, and school law with an emphasis on special education.  He prides himself on his ability to hear his clients’ concerns and seeks to take a collaborative approach to identifying client goals and strategies for reaching them. 

Counseling local businesses and entrepreneurs on issues pertaining to the choice of corporate entity, liquor licenses, employment matters, administrative compliance and licensing, Zachary’s objective is clear to preserve his clients’ time and to keep his clients’ apprised as their matters progress.  

When it comes to the educational needs of children with disabilities, Zachary advises parents and school districts on matters involving the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. 

He reviews student records, evaluations, and existing IEP’s, providing advice on potential appeals as well as representation at IEP meetings, manifestation meetings and expulsion proceedings.  He also drafts and reviews 504 accommodation plans under the ADAAA along with general disability consultations. He advises school districts on compliance with the IDEA and the discipline of students including representation at expulsion hearings.

Licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, Zachary completed his Juris Doctorate from The American University, Washington College of Law, where he was a member of The Administrative Law Review.   He  received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire. 

Prior to joining CGA Law Firm, Zachary owned a successful private practice in Maryland advising small businesses and individuals in the hospitality and food and beverage industries.  He also spent several years as a litigation associate in a boutique litigation firm advocating for his clients’ civil rights.
