Estate of Smith
Jan 01, 2012OUTCOME: We were able to help the parties resollve this matter in an amicable manner without resulting in litigation. It was a very messy probate and there were hard feelings all around but ultimately I think we got it resolved to everyone's mutual satisfaction.
I am using "Smith" to protect the name of the family but this was an estate in which the husband died, survived by his second wife and his daughters from his first marriage. We represented the wife in ... the administration of the husband's estate. The problem was that he died without a will and he had never put his second wife on the deed to the house (event they had been married over 30 years and she considered it her home). As such, the house was split between the wife and the daughters, which was not a very good situation.
