School District Residency Dispute
Aug 17, 2012OUTCOME: The Ohio Superintendent of Publc Instruction ruled that the student was entitled to free public education in the district
A local public school district claimed that a student was not entitled to a free public education in the district, because the school claimed that the family resided elsewhere. The district sent the fa ... mily a bill for approximately $11,000. I represented the family first at a hearing before the local school district, then in an administrative case before the Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction. We prevailed and the student was allowed to continue to attend her school free of charge.
