An important message

Elizabeth Judd was my public defender on at least 3 different occasions. I was a drug addict. I was 12 years old when I was prescribed pain killers by my doctor. When I was 18 they ran out and I turned to something stronger to numb the pain of a diagnosis that was incurable and doctors could not pinp...oint exactly. I went the through my first surgery at 13 years old. I felt compelled to write this review today because I have held a lot of anger towards this lady who did not even take the time to know a single detail about me and had the nerve to either lie about me in court, or be so uninformed because her case load is so huge that she had no idea what she was talking about. My drug addiction took me to jail multiple times for possession charges and theft to support my habit. She treated me as a number and she treated me as just another sheep to herd to the other side—an action that almost left me trapped inside the revolving door system. I am 2 years sober now. Not because of the system, not because of my public defender but because of myself. When I was in jail, she never once came and saw me to talk about my case, then she lied about the case in court. I was so hurt that I tried to speak up in court to defend myself and she unprofessionally argued with me and shut me down. She stated things as facts that simply did not even happen and weren’t in any of the police reports. I am thinking she maybe got me confused with another case. The point is, even if she didn’t take the time to investigate correctly, she didn’t give me the respect I deserve. I am a human, I am not a number. I saw her today in public, at a local diner and I saw her with her family eating. This is the first time I saw her as a human with feelings, compassion and understanding. I had forgotten that she, too, deserves that respect. Maybe she had forgotten, too. I do not feel anger and hatred towards her, but something has to change. I sat in a jail cell looking around me watching girls come in and out. I did not want that to be me and now it won’t. But I cannot thank this woman. I deserved to be in jail, but I did not deserve to be treated the way I got treated by this woman. She was rude, unauthentic and uninformed about my case. I truly hope that she does not defend anyone with a more serious case, or at least takes the time to do her job correctly. Peoples lives depend on it. Remember, it could be your daughter, your son, your friend... best wishes but things need to change.
