The plaintiff denied injury at the scene, but he experienced ... a pulling sensation in his right hip about two hours after the collision, when he lifted his granddaughter. His pain continued, and he was eventually diagnosed with a right hip labral tear, which required two surgeries and caused the development of DVT. The defense denied that the collision was the cause of the labral tear, and the defense called three experts to testify that the impact could not have caused a hip injury, and that the plaintiff injured himself while picking up his granddaughter. There was no offer to settle.

I decided to take the matter to trial. At trial, I brought in an eye witness, and I used his testimony and photos to show that the defendant had significant fault. I also cross-examined the defendant on his claims that he couldn't have prevented the collision. The jury found in favor of my client. There have been bigger cases in my career, with more zeros at the end of the settlement or verdict, but this is an example of how a dedicated lawyer won't let his client be pushed around by an insurance company.
