Asylum case- Laotian soldier

The client was a Laotian national and an officer in the Royal Army. He was captured by the Laotian communists and placed in a "re-education camp". While at the camp, he was forced to sleep at nights in ... an old refrigerator that was lowered into a hole in the ground. Most of his unit died of malaria due to no medication at the "re-education camp." The camp was attacked and he escaped to Thailand, and then came to the U.S. When he arrived in the U.S., he was placed in deportation proceedings in Memphis, TN.
