I served as i4i's expert on willful infringement and inequitable conduct. I testified in deposition on both issues.
OUTCOME: All defendants settled prior to trial in the hundreds of millions.
I testified in three cases on willful patent infringement on behalf of Wi-LAN involving Wi-LAN patents covering the IEEE 802.11 standards. The 20 defendants included Apple, Toshiba, Sony, Lenovo, Gate ... way, HP, and other leading laptop manufacturers, Intel, Broadcom, Marvell chipset manufacturers, Samsung, LG, and other cell phone manufacturers, and several large router manufacturers including 2Wire, Belkin, others.
OUTCOME: Jury verdict for Cornell of $184M
I served as an expert witness on licensing issues on behalf of Cornell. I testified at trial regarding the appropriate royalty base and royalty rate.
