I represented the estate of Lee Forbes Jones, a man suffering from mental illness, admitted to the psychiatric intensive care unit of the West Oaks Hospital who the hospital allowed ot escape. Jones k ... illed himself. Following a $5.7 million verdict, with a reduction to a sum under $2 million due to the medical liability cap, Jones won at the Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court, which granted review. I argued he case on January 16, 2002, and 6 months later, on July 3, 2002, the Texas Supreme Court withdrew its grant of review, which was a win for the plaintiff--judgment worth $2 million affirmed.
