OUTCOME: Charges dismissed by State before jury trial
Client charged with domestic assaults.
OUTCOME: Our clients preserved thier summary judgment award.
This was an appeal related to a residential real estate purchase agreement. I wrote the appellate briefs.
OUTCOME: Jury acquitted on the 2nd degree assault
Client was charged with a 2nd degree assault for discharging a firearm.
OUTCOME: Case dismissed by State prior to trial
My client was a previously convicted sex offender who was accused of sexually assaulting a young boy by the maternal grandmother. The client was charged with a serious criminal sexual conduct offense, ... and immediately jailed. I was able to obtain the evidence and review it with an expert on child sexual assault interviews, which are commonly called “Cornerhouse Interviews”. I explained to the State’s attorney, and the judge, why the interview in this process was faulty. Upon review by the State’s expert, the State agreed that the case could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and dismissed all of the charges against my client.
OUTCOME: Dissmissed by State prior to trial, but after OPS
This case was handed to me a few weeks prior to trial by a partner. The Client was accused of possessing and distributing a large amount of child pornography. The computer in question was housed at a ... day camp in a building that was accessible to the public. I obtained a forensic copy of the hard drive, and secured the services of a computer expert firm. They reviewed the hard drive, which did contain child pornography. However, I learned that the pornography was located in the unallocated region of the hard drive. I used this information during discussions with the State’s attorney to undercut the strength of their case. Ultimately, the State dismissed the charges prior to the jury trial.
