LSNWJ and co-counsel Fox Rothschild on behalf of 13 plaintiffs sued the Township of Allamuchy, who was acting as landlord for the town’s affordable housing units. Started in April 2011 and concluded S ... ept. 2014. The complaint listed 14 counts, including violation of the Uniform Housing Affordability Controls; violations of the Anti-Eviction Act, violations of Section §1983, violations of the Law Against Discrimination, among others. Case settled after more than 3 years with 13 units being deed restricted for 30 years, leases revised in keeping with the law, and damages awarded to the 3 plaintiffs who left their units after receiving the notice of rent increase which precipitated the suit. Attorney’s fees of $40,000 to Legal Services, largest in firm’s history.
