Third Circuit published opinion, regarding an International custody dispute stemming from a child abduction and involving the International Treaty known as the Hague Convention. I handled the matter o ... n behalf of the Bergen County Sheriff initiated by the inmate's Habeas Corpus action. Ms. Carrascosa, the Bergen County Jail inmate, abducted her child from New Jersey and brought her to Spain many years ago and she was never returned. Ms. Carrascosa was held on Civil Contempt for years until the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office (who served as intervenor on the Habeas) convicted her on eight (8) counts including kidnapping and interference with parental custody.
