I successfully represented the GC and obtained a reversal of the Commissioner’s Citation and Penalty which had been assessed against the GC.
OUTCOME: Judgment on all counts for the General Contractor plus an award of attorneys' fees.

Gilliss of Pike & Gilliss successfully represented BEKA Industries, Inc. in a lawsuit filed by the Board of Education for Worcester County alleging that the construction company owed the Board ... $531,000 in backcharges stemming from a 2004 construction contract to build a new elementary school. Judge Sidney S. Campen agreed with BEKA’s position and dismissed with prejudice the Board’s lawsuit against BEKA. Judge Campen ruled that the issues in the suit had been decided in another case involving a $1.1 million judgment obtained by Mr. Gilliss on behalf of BEKA following a trial in the fall of 2008. The Board appealed the decision in the original case, and that appeal will be heard by the Court of Special Appeals in November 2009.
