The players included Icelandic investors, an insolvent Atlanta, Georgia bank, the FDIC, a New York hedge fund, participant community banks (local and regional), dozens of Milwaukee contractors, and dozens of Milwaukee, New York and Atlanta attorneys. It involved one of the most complex real estate disputes in recent Wisconsin history. After 3 years of litigation in numerous different federal and state court actions, the property was sold at auction in 2012. Claims totaled over $30,000,000.00. The litigation resulted in nearly all the Milwaukee contractors being paid.
