Background:
Attorney Crist is a fifth generation Pittsburgher growing up in the South Hills area. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (political science/history) at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. She earned her Juris Doctor in 1992 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. At Pitt she was on the Editorial Board of the prestigious Law Review as well as an award winning moot court competitor competing in national moot court events for Pitt. She was honored by the faculty at graduation with membership into the Order of the Barristers for demonstrating excellence in written and oral advocacy.
Current Practice:
Attorney Crist's current practice is heavily focused on representing and advocating on behalf of her clients in various court and administrative agencies. Most recently, in an employment case, Crist filed a writ of certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking review of whether the ADEA (Age Discrimination in Employment Act) precludes Section 1983 claims by public employees. She also represents parents of students facing violations of various federal and state education laws. Her firm maintains an active domestic relations and criminal defense practice as well as these legal areas are often needed by many.
Past Experience:
Going on 22 years of practice, almost all of it litigation based, Attorney Crist brings experience and skill to each and every case she works on. Upon graduating from law school she was an associate with Eckert Seamans. She then moved on to work with the labor rights firm of Healy, Davidson & Hornack while at the same time acting as a volunteer attorney with the ACLU. This ACLU experience lent itself to her work as a volunteer "election protection" attorney during recent national elections. Prior to opening up her own practice, for years she was a senior associate with Orie & Zivic handling civil, criminal and domestic litigation matters.
Personal:
Attorney Crist resides with her family in the neighbor she grew up in. She is a committed community member and volunteer. Every year Crist Law Center sponsors a girls softball team. She volunteers with her local PTA, various community groups and a local Girl Scout troop. She is involved and active in many causes including: educational issues particularly in the preservation of public education as a right for all students; the prevention of birth defects and premature births and aiding and helping those less fortunate through drives and fundraising.
