Took money and did no work

We hired Peter Caroff to reopen a bankruptcy case to add a creditor that had initially been forgotten. He took the money for the filing fees and also his fees and vanished. He did nothing for months. We were getting calls for garnishment, and he kept saying he'd do it tomorrow, next week... Until we ...finally did it ourselves pro se and filed a complaint with the PA disciplinary board. He is currently under suspension. Even if he is reinstated, I'd suggest you hire someone else - he is not worth the stress.

hire an attorney to sue this attorney

Upon hiring this clown, I have not only done all the leg work myself, but have also tried to track this jerk down. He disappears for weeks without returning calls/texts. His voicemail is always full, and is never in his office. He has never filed paperwork timely, or appeared in court when hearings w...ere held. He signs on as your attorney, only to be sure that the bankruptcy courts send him his monthly fee (out of your payments to the court)!!!! He is a fast talker and is very sly. Promises you he can "work out a deal", but does nothing in reality. I plan on bringing legal action against Mr Caroff, and hope others will join in to stop him from ripping off other potential clients,

Consistently unreliable, irresponsible, unprofessional... And now, M.I.A.!

I really do hate to leave negative comments about anyone, however from the other review of Caroff, I feel it's necessary as the same thing is happening to me. Don't expect to receive updates or ANYTHING from him regarding your case. When his voicemail isn't full (which is often) and you are actuall...y able to leave a message for him, don't wait by your phone for a return call... It won't come. And, as asinine as it sounds, difficulty reaching him increases fifty-fold during... Wait for it... Football season. Yes, if the Steelers are back on the field, you might as well go into hibernation until after the Superbowl. Additionally, I feel his incompetence is completely unacceptable. For example, he has been late filing time-sensitive matters pertaining to my case. Also, he has filed things incorrectly, which have negatively affected my case. I have NEVER received ANY copy of filings, documents or correspondence from him... Nothing. Ever! Anything I know about my case, I have found out from the Courts. Any good (or even just "decent") attorney will at least forward these things to their clients. When I did ask him to provide me with copies of his filings, he assured me he would, "send them right out." - That was 2 or 3 years ago and I've still not received anything. Please know that in absolutely no way am I being facetious concerning his unreliability / irresponsibility / unprofessionalism... I wish I was, but I'm not. I truly feel the only thing he is consistent with, is being unreliable and I will most definitely be contacting the Pennsylvania Bar Association regarding Caroff's conduct. In closing, during an already difficult time when you are in need of professional help, you want a reliable attorney... Peter Caroff is NOT that type of attorney, so please, save yourself the added stress, headaches and frustration he will bring to your case... Hire someone else!

Disappointed with Mr. Caroff

This attorney at first was relieable but then after getting half way thru a case he just disappeared. Went to office and spoke with other people in the bldg and they said every day several people come looking for him and stating he left them hanging in middle of suits that had been filed. Seems he is... doing this to not only us but to a lot of clients who trusted him.
