PRO
also known as Marissa K. Kohl, Marissa Kohl
Marissa Kohl knew early on that she wanted to use the law to help people. After earning her bachelor's degree in psychology — with focuses in law and business — from Penn State in 2014, she gained hands-on exposure to personal injury, workers' compensation, and Social Security disability law through an internship at a respected Greensburg firm. That experience set the foundation for what would become a career defined by advocacy and client-first thinking.
Marissa went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law, graduating cum laude. She was a Dean's Scholar, earned the CALI Award for Excellence in Civil Procedure, and clerked at Woomer & Talarico during her studies. After law school, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Donald R. Walko, Jr. in the Civil Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas — an experience that sharpened her understanding of how cases are evaluated from the bench.
She joined Berger and Green in 2019, where she focuses exclusively on personal injury law. Marissa understands that an injury doesn't just cause physical pain — it can upend every aspect of a person's life. Her goal is simple: handle the legal fight so her clients can focus on healing. She approaches every case with the care and attention it deserves, treating each client as the individual they are rather than just a file number.
Marissa has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2022 through 2025, an honor awarded to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in the state. She is licensed in all Pennsylvania State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and is a proud member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and the Allegheny County Bar Association.
