Katherine Carol Dempsey

Ms. Dempsey focuses her practice in the areas of insurance coverage, insurance defense, and commercial litigation. She represents insurance companies in both state and federal courts in a wide variety of insurance coverage matters, including mass tort, products liability, copyright infringement, construction defects, environmental claims, and bad faith litigation. In addition, Ms. Dempsey coordinates and oversees large-scale discovery, including e-discovery, in a multi-million dollar insurance coverage case spanning multiple states.

Ms. Dempsey also represents insurance companies and third-party administrators in personal injury actions involving premises liability in which she handles all phases of litigation. Additionally, she defends utility marking companies in cases alleging property damage and breach of contract. Previously, Ms. Dempsey worked as an associate at a banking and business law firm, concentrating her practice in the areas of collection, bankruptcy, appellate practice, and general litigation.

In 2013, Ms. Dempsey attended the week-long International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy at Stanford University in California, where she undertook extensive training in trial advocacy. Ms. Dempsey received her Juris Doctorate degree from Duquesne University School of Law ,where she served as a research editor for the Duquesne University Law Review. While in law school, Ms. Dempsey also interned for the Honorable David S. Cercone of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Ms. Dempsey obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004, graduating summa cum laude.
