James M. Singer

Jim Singer is chair of the Intellectual Property Department of Fox Rothschild LLP.  Jim’s practice helps businesses, institutional investors, venture capital groups and others identify, protect, maximize value, and reduce risk associated with intangible assets. Jim is a registered patent attorney, and he is also an experienced electrical engineer who worked in the energy industry. 

Jim works with companies involved in a wide array of technologies, including communications equipment, document production technologies, coatings and materials, robotics, material science, energy, power control and delivery equipment, electronic and mechanical devices, medical devices, security and encryption technologies, semiconductors, anti-virus software, broadcast media technologies, innovative environmental technologies and business methods.  

Examples of Jim’s experience combining business and intellectual property law include:

• providing due diligence to help venture capital funds and other investors understand patent value, barriers to market entry and potential intellectual property opportunities for diverse technology companies;
• negotiating complex technology transfer and license agreements, including purchase options, escrow requirements, exclusive agreements and marketing relationships; and
• negotiating television, radio, personal promotion, Web site and other media contracts for professional sports franchises and individual artists, athletes, and entertainers.
