Christopher James Azzara

I am a shareholder and the chair of the firm’s Banking, Creditors' Rights and Insolvency group.  I practice primarily in the area of creditors' rights law, commercial litigation, construction, public sector and real estate law. I am board certified as a creditors' rights specialist by the American Board of Certification and dedicate a substantial portion of my practice to banking, bankruptcy, commercial transactions and collections.

I have represented both secured and unsecured creditors, as well as trustees, landlords and small businesses, in all aspects of Chapter 11 business bankruptcy cases and Chapter 7 and 13 individual bankruptcy cases, including workouts and complex litigation.

I have represented clients in various business and real estate transactions including the acquisition, sale and leasing of real estate and have also represented national title insurance companies in various title insurance matters, both in bankruptcy cases and general real estate transactions.

I have represented financial institutions and businesses in financing matters, including the preparation and negotiation of loan documents, workouts, foreclosures and general creditor rights. My representation of for-profit and non-profit businesses includes the negotiation and drafting of governance documents, formation of entities and general business consultation and litigation. I currently represent several local and national corporations in the collection of business debts.

I also practice in the area of construction law, where I have experience in contract negotiation, claims for delay, mechanics' liens, and all types of contractual disputes. I routinely counsel clients, including owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors, on a variety of both private and public projects and represent clients in various state and federal courts.
