Philip B. Hart Jr.

P. BRENNAN HART serves as Co-Chair of the Professional Liability Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Hart has a broad range of legal experience. He has served as statewide and regional counsel for a number of clients. His experience includes handling of a number of high-profile cases and cases that involve either catastrophic or mass injuries. He also evaluates and monitors cases for excess insurance carriers.

His practice currently focuses on professional liability, D&O and E&O liability issues. Mr. Hart has significant experience with commercial litigation, products liability, coverage, employment practices, environmental, and health care matters. 

Mr. Hart has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for many years in the area of defense litigation. In addition, LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® also recognizes Mr. Hart as an AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer in both legal ability and ethical standards.

Mr. Hart began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Allegheny County. He has been involved in defense litigation for more than twenty-five years. Prior to joining the firm, he was one of the managing partners of one of Pittsburgh’s oldest defense litigation firms. He also opened and then managed the Pittsburgh office of a multi-state defense litigation law firm.

Mr. Hart was elected to the Judiciary Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association and has been a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers for more than twenty years. He is a trained mediator and has served as a court-appointed Special Master in state court and arbitrator in federal court. Mr. Hart has been invited by clients to speak before industry groups on a variety of topics. Mr. Hart serves on the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Prior to this, Mr. Hart served as a Hearing Committee Member for six years.

He is also active in community affairs and has served on boards and advisory committees for a number of local charities. Mr. Hart currently serves on the board of the National Kidney Foundation in New York and is serving as Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the NKF of the Alleghenies. He is the past President of the Board of Governors of the Duquesne University School of Law Alumni Association.
