John Raymond Brumberg

JOHN R. BRUMBERG is a member of the Litigation Group.

Mr. Brumberg has experience successfully representing a wide variety of clients, from publicly traded companies involved in complex litigation to individuals making large personal injury claims.

In several prominent cases, he has represented clients facing intense national and local media and governmental scrutiny. He has experience working with clients on all aspects of litigation and public relations strategy.

As first chair counsel, he has successfully obtained verdicts for his clients at both arbitration and trial. He has tried cases to verdict in both the state and federal courts.

Mr. Brumberg has also authored several published articles. His article Patton Sounds Death Knell for Statutory Employer Defense (coauthored with Mark Gordon) was cited as authority by Amici Curiae before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The Pittsburgh Business Times has featured his commentary detailing the development of natural gas law in Pennsylvania and proposing a strategy to reduce associated business uncertainty and litigation costs. 

Before joining the firm, Mr. Brumberg served as a legal intern for Chief United States District Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania Joy Flowers Conti and for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

Mr. Brumberg earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he was the recipient of a Duke Law Scholarship. He currently serves on the board of the Duke Club of Pittsburgh as Treasurer. Mr. Brumberg received his undergraduate degree in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Allegheny College where his senior thesis, “Varied Voices: The American Founders and their Conceptualizations of the Proper Relationship between Religion and Government” was named the best thesis in the Political Science department.
