After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, Anna C. Sulanowski began her work with families as a Research Assistant at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. There she conducted psychological assessments on at-risk children and their families to determine the efficacy of cognitive behavioral family therapy.
To assist families in a greater capacity, Anna subsequently obtained her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law where she interned with the Duquesne Family Law Clinic, assisting pro se clients with family law issues including drafting motions, petitions, and complaints and presenting them to the Judges in Allegheny County Family Division. Anna also interned with KidsVoice in Pittsburgh, where she represented foster children as Guardian Ad Litem at dependency hearings. She advocated both in the courtroom and the community to ensure a safe and permanent home for abused, neglected, and at-risk children.
She later interned with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, focusing most of her time in the Domestic Violence Clinic. There she drafted protection from abuse petitions and assisted in coordinating housing and therapeutic services for victims.
During her first year of law school, Anna completed a summer abroad program where she studied at both the Universität zu Köln in Germany and the Sorbonne Law School at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in France. Following the program, she completed an internship at the corporate department of Osbourne Clark, a multinational firm with offices in the UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, the Netherlands and the United States.
Anna has also dedicated herself to advocating for individuals with intellectual disabilities; she has spent over a decade working with the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization that provides care for adults with intellectual disabilities and works to increase awareness and acceptance of such individuals within the community.
In her spare time, Anna volunteers at Animal Friends and participates in fundraising events to benefit individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Anna is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association Family Law Section.
