Jeffrey Pollock, divorce lawyer

Jeffrey Pollock helped me with a divorce where there were many financial complications. He spoke to me in terms that I could understand. His fees were reasonable, and his responses were immediate so if I had questions, I always could get them answered quickly. I would definitely hire him again in a h...eartbeat

His Ratings Speak for Themselves!

Jeff's expertise and acumen have been indispensable for my case. He truly cares for his clients and makes himself available where other attorneys won't. His response times are unreal! I'm extremely grateful for that. You can tell he really cares for his clients with the effort he goes to in order... to help them find success. Even after we've resolved, I look forward to maintaining a future business relationship with him. (And for the record, he's my second attorney---life really came through making sure my case found its way into the right hands!)

I have always been appreciative of positive feedback for my 38 years of law practice. Especially when you are your own boss as a sole practitioner, one tends to sometimes feel "Impostor Syndrome." I am extremely grateful to this latest client as well for reminding me that my diligence, caring, conscientiousness, and empathy are recognized and acknowledged 99 times out of a 100. Such thoughtful reinforcement, kind praise, constructive criticism, and well-articulated feedback are just what I needed to continue to motivate me to help similar IFP clientele.

No empathy, Only Greed

As a Pittsburgh resident, I wanted to share my experience with Attorney Jeffrey L. Pollock. I was referred to him through Neighborhood Legal Services under their Reduced Fee Referral Program for low-income clients. I paid $50 in advance for a 30-minute consultation. However, the consultation never ac...tually happened — I only spoke with him briefly (about five minutes) to cancel and request a refund. No legal advice or service was provided, but Mr. Pollock refused to return my $50 despite multiple polite requests and my explaining that I am currently struggling financially. I even told him that $50 is about a week’s worth of food for me. During that short call, he was dismissive and insisted that “any phone call counts as a legal consultation.” He kept the call going until around the five-minute mark, then hung up abruptly to avoid issuing a refund. He also told me to “think about it,” which seemed like a way to delay returning my money. Later, he even claimed that sending him an email would also count as a billable consultation — something that felt completely unreasonable to me. After that, he said by email that he was “out of town” and would handle it later, but I never heard back from him again. I’m sharing my experience so others in the Pittsburgh community can make an informed decision before working with this attorney. I truly wish my attempt to seek affordable legal help had been handled with more professionalism and empathy.

I always appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE criticism; I am not sure that this qualifies, but I appreciate the opportunity to improve my client service. I had to let this shocking hatchet job sit for a few days before I could calmly muster up a polite and factual response. As I explained to the woman when I returned from a friend's 60th birthday weekend in Chicago -- that was "out of town" -- there were several reasons why I did not immediately refund her $50 after she emailed and called to persuade me to set aside 30 minutes for her for a reduced fee of $50 to discuss how she should reply to her husband's divorce filing. I vehemently disagree that my efforts to help her through her dilemma for $50 showed either greed or lack of empathy. Although I did not appreciate her quasi-extortion using a fake name (she had claimed that her first name was "Huina"), I would have refunded her but for the fact that she was not clear as to her intentions or needs. I did not know if it was some scam since she paid the $50 at about 1:20PM and then called at 1:30 to say that she didn't want the consultation she had just paid for by Zelle a mere 10 minutes before she called. Since I did not want her to not get the legal advice that she had previously stated she really needed, and since I had to leave for the airport, I told her to "sleep on it" and let me know on Monday what she decided after a couple days to consider her priorities. She did not bother to call or write for several days to inform/remind me. (I admit that I totally forgot about her over the hectic travel weekend and then having a busy week of 3 Orphans' Court Hearings, going to a "shiva" for a close friend's mother, helping my brother deal with my elderly parents from afar, etc.) She evidently preferred to vent on multiple websites about my only spending 15-20 minutes total in emails and calls rather than remind me to refund her. I do not appreciate being slandered/libeled/defamed over my effort to do Pro Bono/Low Bono work for indigent people. I take great pride in serving on the Board for NLS and volunteering my valuable time for less affluent litigants; there are only 7 of us on the list in this big county because of people like Linda/Huina having unreasonable expectations and being unappreciative. I can imagine that she was stressed over needing her money for necessities, and I can forgive her wishy-washy change of heart, so I will not allow this experience to make me quit the volunteer lawyer list.

Brilliant Representation

Jeff was the perfect find for my wife and I who had found ourselves in the middle of an unusual “landlord and tenant dispute” with a court date and no idea what we needed to do. Jeff was referred to us by another attorney who we had worked with in the past, and for whom we had tremendous respect, so... the referral carried a great deal of weight. We met with Jeff to bring him up to speed with all the details of the case. He listened and asked us about all the issues we didn’t even know were important. After this first meeting, we had gone from anxiety bordering on panic to calm reassurance that all was well in hand. On the date of the hearing, he knew exactly what to present and represented us brilliantly. In the end, we walked out asking him “what just happened?” He told us that everything had been decided in our favor. We couldn’t have asked for more.

“Nine Years of Trust, Gratitude, and Wins with Jeffrey Pollock" (and I will keep going back )

Dear Jeffrey, I want to take a moment to reflect on what it has meant to have you as my attorney for over nine years. In all that time, you have never once let me down. From criminal court to family court, you fought for me with determination and skill—and you won. But what has mattered just as mu...ch as the victories is the way you stood by me as a person. I never felt like just another client. You became someone I could trust, confide in, and even talk to like a friend. Being Deaf meant that communication was often one of our biggest challenges. That was never about your effort or commitment—it was about the system itself, which so often is not designed to make things accessible. Even so, you always found ways to make sure I understood, and I always knew you were standing firmly in my corner. What I valued just as much was that you never judged me. No matter the situation, you treated me with respect, dignity, and fairness. That gave me strength when I needed it most. What I admire most about you goes beyond your wins in the courtroom. It’s the way you carry yourself—with professionalism, preparation, and a steady presence even in the most stressful moments. I often found myself wishing I had your calm, cool, and collected demeanor when everything around me felt like chaos. You brought stability and confidence into situations that could have easily overwhelmed me. That is a gift I will never forget. So I want to say this plainly: I give you all the stars, because you have earned every single one. You are not just excellent—you are exceptional. You know the law, you know how to work the system, and you know how to win. For years I have recommended you to others searching for an attorney, and I always will. When people ask me who I trust, your name is always the one I give. That’s not just because you’re a great lawyer—it’s because you are the kind of lawyer who changes lives. Case closed. Respectfully, with my utmost gratitude, MJ
