Michael J. LaffeyMr. Laffey established the firm in 2002 after 15 years in the field of Health Care and Insurance law. As former Special Counsel at Tucker ., Now principal of Laffey & Associates and Other Party Liability Inc.  Mike has established one of the largest law firm subrogation departments in the country dedicated to serving Employee Benefit Plans subrogation interests. As former in-house counsel for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mike has assisted in the design and delivery of several managed health care systems from design of the benefit package, through contracting, regulatory approval, and the marketing of the new programs. Mike has represented Indemnity Health Plans, HMO's, PPO's and various self insured companies and Third Party Administrators. Mike has also represented physicians on practice management, organizational and reimbursement 's practice focuses exclusively on assisting insurers such as Blue Cross Plans and Third Party Administrators identify and pursue subrogation claims. Mike has recently co-represented 7 BC/BS plans in the National Diet Drug litigation and represented 15 BC/BS plans in the Pedicle Bone Screw litigation where his clients also made a successful recovery. He is a prior Chairman of the Pennsylvania Statewide Bar Association Health and Hospital Law Committee, is a member of the National Health Lawyers Association, Pa and American Trial Lawyer associations and a lecturer for the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, the National Other Party Liability Group and the National Healthcare Antifraud Association. Mike is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania State courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Pennsylvania, The Second and Third Circuit Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court.
