Sweet, et al. v. Hinzman, et al.
Jul 01, 2009OUTCOME: Judgment in favor of our clients
Our clients had been banished and removed from tribal membership in the Snoqualmie Tribe. We sought relief on their behalf under the Indian Civil Rights Act, arguing that they were denied due process ... (notice, and an opportunity to be heard). The U.S. District Court ruled that tribal sovereign immunity does not protect the respondents from their alleged unlawful acts, and also ruled that our clients' due process rights under the Indian Civil Rights Act had indeed been violated.
