OUTCOME: Dismissed with prejudice

Class action lawsuit filed against subject and author of book, co-author, publisher and non-profit associated with subject. The lawsuit alleged claims of RICO violations (criminal conspiracy), fraud, ... breach of contract, among others. The case involved First Amendment protections afforded writers and publishers. I represented the co-author, who relied on the information given to him by the subject in writing the book. After obtaining a dismissal, the case was appealed to the Ninth Circuit.
