In the Matter of J.G.
Nov 25, 2013OUTCOME: Medicaid agrees to accept less than half of their lien and frees up $60,000 for minor and modest attorney fees.
A minor is hurt in catastrophic car accident. Policy limits only $100,000 and quickly offered by insurance with medical bills over $300,000. Medicaid steps in and reduces medical bills, but pays almost ... $100K in medical bills. Knowing this would be a hard sell to Medicaid, lawyer accepted case on hourly basis, not contingency to keep fees low. Low fees main bargaining chip in negotiations.
