Department of State lost a case file and refused to issue an immigrant visa to the Indian brother of a US citizen. The brother had already waited more than ten years for his priority date to become cu ... rrent and USCIS and the State Department told him he would have to wait another ten years because they had no record of the earlier filed petition. We sued for mandamus and after months of negotiations, USCIS and the US State Department agreed to issue the Indian brother his immigrant visa. We dismissed the case voluntarily after the client was issued his immigrant visa and was safely inside of the United States with his wife and children.
