Ms. Blaney sued for sexual harrassment and discrimination. Following a jury trial and award in her favor for in excess of $800,000, Ms. Blaney sought a supplemental judgement for an additional $240,0 ... 00, the amount of additional taxes she would have to incur as a consequence of the award. The trial court denied the request for supplemental judgment. The matter was appealed through the Washington Supreme Court which court held, for the first time, and as requested by Ms. Blaney that defendants in discrimination cases were liable for the adverse tax consequences suffered by plaintiffs as a consequence of their discriminatory actions.
