I started my legal career as a trial lawyer in the army JAG Corps. When I left the active duty military in 1979 and joined a medium size law firm in Rochester, I was assigned to the litigation department. Gradually, however, I began to also represent businesses in their day-to-day affairs. Today, my practice is nearly evenly split between general business law and civil litigation. I have also represented investors who sustained losses in their portfolios as a result of broker negligence or misconduct.
My business clients are small to medium size businesses for which I provide general legal services, such as forming a corporation or limited liability company, buying or selling assets, reviewing bank loan and line of credit documents, preparing and negotiating leases, drafting clients’ standard Terms and Conditions of Sale, preparing employment contracts, and buying or selling a business.
My litigation practice includes general litigation, such as business disputes, contract claims and personal injury cases involving claims of negligence and products liability.
I am active in the Monroe County Bar Association. In 2001 I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Monroe County Bar Center for Education and in that same year I was honored to receive the President’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Monroe County Bar Association. I also served as a Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association from 2001 to 2003 and have Chaired the Fee Arbitration and the Public Education Committees. I have served on numerous committees and am presently a member of the Veterans and Ethics Committees.
I am honored to have earned the highest ranking from the leading national rating organization, Martindale-Hubbell, for legal ability, faithful adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, professional reliability and diligence.
I have been married for forty-four years to my high school sweetheart. We have four children. Two live in Portland, Oregon, one lives in Boston and one lives in Brighton. In 1992, I retired from the Army Reserves as a Major.
