Raymond Thompson Gilman

At a Glance:

Tom Gilman is a partner in the firm and Chair of the Family Wealth & Estate Planning Department, where his practice is concentrated in estate planning, trust and estate administration, probate and estate tax law.

 

Mr. Gilman received his B.A. degree from the University of Vermont and his J.D. degree from Albany Law School.

 

Community Involvement:

Mr. Gilman chairs the United Way of Greater Rochester's Professional Advisors Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Management of the YMCA Day Care Center at Lewis Street, the Planned Giving Advisory Committee of Monroe Community College Foundation, and the Community Sponsors Committee of the Rochester Area Community Foundation. In 2007 he received the McKnight Award recognizing his years of pro bono work through the Volunteer Legal Services Project.

Mr. Gilman is admitted to practice in the States of New York and Florida.

 

Professional Affiliations:

Active in the Monroe County Bar Association, he has served as chair of the Trusts & Estates Section, Charitable Gifts Committee, Florida Practice Committee and Memorial Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Monroe County Bar Foundation. In addition, he is also a member of the Trusts & Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council of Rochester, and the Real Property and Probate Section of the Florida Bar.

Mr. Gilman has been selected since the year 2000 to be included within the listing of The Best Lawyers in America. He is a frequent lecturer and writer on estate planning topics.
