James William Kiley

At a Glance:

James W. Kiley is a partner in the firm and a member of the Litigation Department. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, insurance, construction and business litigation.

 

Mr. Kiley began his career in the New York State Attorney General's Office where he was one of the principal trial attorneys trying over 25 cases in his first two years of practice. He has tried numerous personal injury cases in State and Federal Courts, and before arbitrators. He also counsels individuals and businesses on general legal matters.

 

Mr. Kiley graduated from Boston University in 1968 with a B.A. in Political Science. He received his J.D. degree from Albany Law School.

 

Community Involvement:

Mr. Kiley is a past President of the Pittsford-Perinton Kiwanis and past Director of the American Heart Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Future Boxing Club, a Rochester organization, which is dedicated to train and discipline underprivileged children in the skills of boxing to provide confidence to the youths, and “keep them off the streets”.

Mr. Kiley is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the U.S. District Court of the Western District of New York and the Northern District.

 

Professional Affiliations:

Mr. Kiley is a member of the American Association of Justice, and also a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations.

 

Other:

Mr. Kiley also lectures frequently on such topics as representing persons seriously injured in automobile accidents, and the importance of obtaining substantial uninsurance and underinsurance liability coverage to protect an injured person against the uninsured or inadequately insured motorist. He also speaks on issues critical to small to mid-sized business owners such as the need for umbrella insurance coverage, proper entity formation to protect against personal liability, and avoiding pitfalls in litigation such as “spoliating” or throwing out key physical evidence which could result in an insurance carrier’s denial of coverage, or a drastic result in a litigated case.
