Disappointed

Nearly 5 years after my cycling accident, the case against NYS is finally settled and closed. Opting for an arbitration settlement vs a trail was both frustrating and disappointing. While very impressed with the firm’s paralegal who clearly knows her stuff, (hence the reason for the 2 stars) my exper...ience with counsel soured. I ultimately decided to settle through arbitration. Unfortunately I was unpleasantly surprised to learn, after the fact, there was one significant factor that would negatively impact the final settlement. A factor that was NEVER properly communicated to me by counsel, which counsel later denied (basically calling me a liar). Glad to be alive, case closed, time to move on….

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I endorse this lawyer. He is not only an exellent attorney but, as is critical to me, also a really good person. When another attoney referred Sheldon to me on a personal [family] matter, we had never met. Nevertheless, Sheldon put aside his work, answered my questions and then commenced working on my case. Despite the settlement of my case having involved a large reward for my client, and my consistent efforts to fully pay Sheldon for his work, he would not accept a penny. Contrary to my thoughts on the settlement amount, Sheldon said the reward, of which neither he nor I had any involvement in obtaining, was not so big considering the severity of the injuries and my client's young age. I had never before experienced such a level of "professional courtesy," while my ciient's life was made much better by Sheldon's professional knowledge and personal integrity. I have since referred many cases outside my area of expertise to Sheldon, always my first choice."

Relationship: Co-worker

"Throughout 34 years of practicing law, I've shared my Firm letterhead with only two attorneys- my father, and Shelly Boyce. I am amazed at his ability, and humbled that he is my partner. His integrity is unparalleled. I am admittedly biased, but I cannot in good conscience pass up this opportunity to state how I truly feel about this man. I proudly endorse this lawyer."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
