Alexandra Burkett

I hired Alexandra 14 years (6/17/2009), and paid in full and up front, to get divorce money issues done. I told her I wanted this done and over with ASAP. Now 14 years later, I still have nothing. Very very few phone calls, I've asked for acknowledgements of receiving things I have mailed to her, and... get nothing. She can't be reached, for phone calls, I talk to who ever answers the phone. I ask her to pass on information, and tell her to have Alexandra to call me with some kind of updates. I get nothing! 14 years is absolutely a ridiculous amount of time for a court order to be awarded. Not sure what the next step will be, but I can say, I'm not waiting another 14 years. If you want something done quickly, I have to say, hire someone else. You could be going through the same nightmare! I called her office today, my guess would be I'm calling back on Monday. I also hired Alex as my divorce attorney. During our first initial consultations, she promised that she would fight for me. Thousands of dollars later and after I hired a new attorney, I received what I should have when I first filed. She is an attorney who will tell you she will fight for you, bu...t when their is a battle to be fought over your rights as a parent, she will succumb to the opposing attorney and still bill you, while not fully representing you. It was an eye opener about her character when she started representing my former spouse and her attorney instead of representing me and my rights as a parent. Do Not Hire unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to be misrepresented.

Ms. Burkett sold herself well in our first meeting. She was agreeable and acted compassionate. In hindsight, I feel she was not sincere. I hired her for a divorce that should have been quite simple. As soon as I retained her, things seemed to change. Her paralegal handled all communication (Ms. ...Burkett never was available unless I scheduled a face-to-face meeting). She seemed very unprepared for court, many times acting confused when I referred to the legal documents that her office (obviously her paralegal) prepared. She was always late for court and would then rush in, straight past me into the room with the judge and the opposing lawyer, leaving me in the waiting room and in the dark. I would never be advised of her strategy before court. She delayed proceedings and seemed to be working against me. Many times I felt she was my adversary instead of my representative. It didn't appear that she was listening to my opinions or wishes. Her bill ended up being several thousands more than she quoted me. It also seemed like it took a very long time to get a separation agreement and to finalize. In such a highly emotional situation as a divorce, I would avoid this lawyer. Her lack of attention is upsetting. Seriously, AVOID Alexandra Burkett.
