I was the defendant in a divorce case. Millane reviewed the facts, and told me I had a strong case in my favor. He kept this up for 2-1/2 years of depositions and filings to run up billable hours. On the night before trial, he suggested I settle out of court, He finally admitted that that while he h...ad been practicing law for ten years, he had never taken a matrimonial case to trial. He always negotiated an out-of-court settlement. The trial was bi-furcated--grounds and financials. After we lost the grounds trail, he resigned and refused to represent me at all. In part because my now-ex was probably going to get all the marital assets and there would be no more dollars he could extract from me. He also refused to look at some duplicate billings I had discovered, claiming I still owed him more money. I would never recommend this lawyer to anyone.
