Paul David McCormick

Selected for inclusion on Business First's Who's Who in Law and multiple times to Thomson Reuters' Upstate New York Super Lawyers lists, Paul McCormick is a litigator and trial lawyer with 20 years of experience defending corporations, insurance companies, and insureds in cases involving motor vehicle accidents, transportation litigation, premises liability, product liability, New York worksite injuries, and complex toxic tort liability.

Paul concentrates his practice on insurance coverage and defense litigation. He has successfully defended clients in a variety of areas, including no-fault insurance coverage, UM/UIM/SUM insurance coverage, motor vehicle liability, premises liability, construction site personal injury accidents (Labor Law §§ 200, 240(1) and 241 (6)), and police misconduct (42 USC Section 1983) civil rights litigation. He has handled tractor-trailer loss-transfer arbitration hearings and property damage claims. Paul practices in courts throughout New York, including the state's appellate courts, and is admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court for the Western and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

Paul co-authored a chapter on the emerging topic of mergers and acquisitions insurance for New Appleman on Insurance Law Library Edition, a seminal treatise on insurance law in the United States. He authored "Countering Plaintiff's Attempts to Maximize Damages: Communicating with Jurors about Money," an article published in the DRI's For The Defense magazine, and he co-authored an article titled "Potential Causation and Damage Issues in Hurricane Irene Insurance Claims" in the Westlaw Journal: Insurance Coverage. Paul is a frequent writer and panelist for continuing legal education seminars on such topics as no-fault insurance coverage, UM/UIM/SUM insurance coverage, trial tactics, and premises liability.
