Michael Thomas Glascott

Michael T. Glascott, a partner in the Global Insurance Services Practice Group and leader of the GIS New York team, focuses his practice on complex insurance coverage, bad faith, commercial litigation, tort, and New York Labor Law litigation. Mike counsels and represents insurers in courts throughout New York and other northeastern states.

Mike gained extensive trial experience as an assistant district attorney for the County of Erie, where he prosecuted to verdict a variety of criminal matters, including homicides. He has also successfully defended personal injury claims and represented clients in commercial litigation matters during his time with private firms in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Buffalo, New York.

Since 2003, Mike has been a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), a membership which is granted by invitation only following an extensive peer-review selection process. The FDCC is an international organization that was founded in 1936, and is limited to 1,200 of the top defense attorneys in the country. Mike's high-profile participation in the organization — founded on the principles of knowledge, justice, and fellowship — includes his current appointment as secretary-treasurer, and previous leadership positions as senior director, director, chair of the Membership Development and Retention Committee, chair of the Insurance Coverage Section, chair of the Insurance Industry Committee, and member of the Admissions Committee. He also currently serves as chair of the Finance and Budget Committee, and will serve as the organization's president-elect from 2019 to 2020 and then as president from 2020 to 2021. In 2016, Mike received the Joseph R. Olshan Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the organization following his leadership within the FDCC Advance Committee. He also received the FDCC Connect Award in 2017 and the John Alan Appleman Award in 2012 for his service as chair of the FDCC's Insurance Coverage Section.

Highly regarded among his colleagues, Mike possesses an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell — the highest available rating — and has been regularly selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the category of Insurance Law as well as Business First's Who's Who in the Law for Insurance Coverage. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel.
