Gregg Maxwell

After graduating from law school in 1989, I served a two-year appointment as a Court Attorney to the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department, where I prepared confidential case reports and recommended dispositions to the court on about 90 civil and criminal appeals.

Upon completing my clerkship, I joined the litigation department at Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel, where I spent four years litigating diverse matters that included corporate liability defense, complex products liability, insurance coverage, commercial, and constitutional cases, as well as appeals, for such clients as Niagara Mohawk, Trico Products, Aetna, Merchants Mutual, and State Farm.

In April 1995, I joined Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear, where I devoted much of my time to the defense of Consolidated Rail Corporation, including FELA cases and non-employee cases such as crossing accidents. Additionally, I was primarily responsible for handling defense matters for the City of Jamestown.

In April 1998, I left Hodgson to establish my own private practice. As a civil litigation attorney, I continue to serve clients in the areas of insurance and tort law, commercial litigation, and appellate practice. Throughout my career, I have been responsible for significant appellate practice and have been retained by several prominent attorneys and firms to handle appeals for their clients.

In addition to my private practice, I served a three-year appointment (2002 – 2005) as a full time member of the faculty at the University at Buffalo School of Law, where I taught an intensive, year-long research and writing class as part of the first-year curriculum.
