Eaton v. Best Buy
Sep 15, 2015
OUTCOME: plaintiff's verdict (We won!)
In this case, the client, a homeowner, bought a dishwasher at Best Buy and requested a professional installation by Best Buy. Best Buy's contractor installed the dishwasher, but failed to properly hoo...k up the water intake line flooding the client's home. I filed a lawsuit against Best Buy and its subcontractors. The case proceeded to trial and the jury awarded my client all of the damages that he claimed.

Leon Stor v. Lotus Concept Corp.
Mar 11, 2013
OUTCOME: defense verdict (We won!)
In this case, I was hired to defend against a claim of assault and battery for the injuries the plaintiff sustained at the hands of a night club bouncer. The case was very contentious, but the jury re...cognized that the defendant was acting in self defense when he forcefully escorted the patron out of the bar. The plaintiff, given the extensive injuries he sustained, had a demand of $4 million. The jury, however, had other thoughts about the case and returned a defense verdict in my client's favor.

People v. Galloway

OUTCOME: Not Guilty (We won!)
In this Careless driving causing death case, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty after one hour.
The case involved an out-of-state motorcycle rider and his passenger, who lost control of the b...ike after a minivan swerved in front of them. The Driver Mr. Galloway was ejected and suffered serious injuries. The passenger was ejected and died on scene.
The police questioned Mr. Galloway in a state of half consciousness and while he was under the influence of major narcotics, including Versed, an amnestic, and used his partial admissions against him to show that he caused the accident. The driver of the minivan's account that she did not swerve in front of the bike was not investigated.
At trial, I presented the treating E.R. physician and an expert in emergency medicine to show that Mr. Galloway's admissions were completely unreliable. I also retained a forensic accident reconstructionist who was able to establish our case theory by using the scene evidence (skid marks, gouges in the road surface, damage to the bike) in our favor. Finally, I was able to undermine the credibility of some of the prosecution's key witnesses. Mr. Galloway testified in his own behalf and described his long standing motorcycle hobby, the particular care he takes in preparing for a road trip, and the care he takes in obeying the traffic laws.
The case was submitted to the jury who returned its verdict of not guilty in about an hour.

People v. J.R.

OUTCOME: Not Guilty (We won!)
In this case, our client was accused of a sexual assault that allegedly took place in 1997 when he and the alleged victim were both 13 years old.
Sean Paris developed a powerful cross-examination th...at clearly established that these adolescent sexual encounters had been completely consensual. After many hours challenging the alleged victim and the dubious cast of the remaining prosecution witnesses, the cracks in the prosecution's case were wide enough to drive a truck through. After a short deliberation, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
The right to confront the accuser is enshrined in our Constitution and is one of the most important trial rights a person accused of a crime has, next to, of course, the right to counsel. Preparation of this cross-examination began well in advance of the actual trial and through meticulous planning and preparation, all that remained was a reasonable doubt, ... and then some.
I know our client will rest much easier with this nightmare behind him.
