Mary Jane Murphy

I am a native of Massena, New York. Prior to attending Albany Law School, where I received my Juris Doctorate in 2000, I received my Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam.

Following law school, I worked for a well-known Binghamton firm that concentrates in Personal Injury Litigation, Medical Malpractice & Criminal Defense on both the State and Federal level. I gained trial experience in both federal and state courts as well as handling Criminal and Family Law matters. I also have experience in asbestos litigation having worked on these cases in both New York and Oklahoma.

I have also worked as an attorney for the child in both Broome and Tioga counties and received the Law Guardian of the Year Award in 2010. I was a member of the Broome County Surrogate Decision-Making Committee for ten years, considering major medical decisions for those who lack the capacity to do so on their own.

Currently, my law practice is focused primarily on criminal and family matters where I rigorously defend the interests of my clients. I take the time necessary to listen to the needs of my clients and treat them as the individual that they are. Every person is different, as is the circumstances of their case.
