This case involved a seriously injured union worker. The insurance companied denied this worker's multiple claims including those for special compensation due a union worker on a public works project, ... medical benefits, and permanent and total disability benefits. There were multiple court appearances at the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) and two trials. The insurance company vigorously defended at each proceeding. At the last trial, the insurance company had two investigators testify about multiple (14+) dates of surveillance. Our client won at each proceeding. Before the last hearing, the insurer offered $50,000.00 to resolve all claims. The case settled for $445,000.00 after the insurer paid an additional two years of weekly benefits.
