Todd Sanford Engel

Todd Engel was hired for a family law case. Was given a 5K retainer. This was three months ago. He never answers phone, doesn't have a secretary or paralegal. He takes clients' monies, but only works on a few cases ignoring the rest. We are now filing a formal complaint and will fight to get our mone...y back. This guy is as dirty as they come.

I came in for a simple statement that I wanted to have notarized. I needed to know if this statement would be legally binding. He indicated that I needed a much longer document, that this simple statement would not suffice. He proceeded to spend an hour asking me questions necessary to write this lon...ger document. When he sent me the draft, it contained many statements I did not want put into writing. I asked again why it could not have been kept simple. His assistant understood me and sent me the statement written exactly as I had originally asked. I signed it and it was filed. But Mr. Engel charged me $500 for the draft of the longer document. In other words he misled me into thinking I needed this longer document, and only after he wrote it did I find out it had not been necessary. I wrote him a letter of complaint about this, asked him to rectify the situation, but he never responded. So I was charged $500 for a one-paragraph document.
